Burkhead could play this weekend

As Nebraska gets ready for the what is essentially the Big 12 North title game, some questions exist around the health of some of the players. One player we perhaps didn't expect, however, is that of freshman running back Rex Burkhead, who was cleared to practice not even a week ago. But as Head Coach Bo Pelini said after practice today, don't count him out. He may just play on Saturday.

Lucky number 7

The class of 2010 is literally two, three or four people short of being full for Nebraska, but yet there are seven confirmed visitors as of Wednesday night. Four of these visitors came to light as late as today, three are team mates, with the fourth being confirmed by a coach after a team practice tonight out in California. Who is #7?

Committed but Seriously Looking

Safety Corey Cooper has been committed to Illinois since the spring. That commitment, however, is now at only 50-percent. “I’m still committed, but I’m looking around,” Cooper said. “At the moment (of his commitment) that was my only offer and it’s my home town team and I just got caught up in the opportunity. It was a premature decision.” How is Cooper sure that coach Zook won’t be fired?

Kansas State might not be Oklahoma, but they have some weapons which gave the Sooners plenty of fits. And now Nebraska has to prepare for them. For the North title and a chance for the seniors to go out in style, Defensive Line Coach Carl Pelini said that KSU gives you plenty to think about in trying to figure out what to stop.

Of course, Welter has ties back to Nebraska, but he’s been to just about every Cal game this year and is getting other PAC 10 attention. Welter is already holding his first offer as well and that might be something that he needs to find out more about as well.

A Unique Point of View

From Nebraska, to Kansas State, back to Nebraska. It's an interesting road, and not one even senior offensive lineman Derek Meyer would reccomend. It gets even better when the coach who originally recruited him and left, has came back to coach that team once again. And here he is facing his old team in his last home game as a Husker. Yeah, Derek has a very unique point of view.

There seems to be a lot of expounding on personal philosophies lately, when it comes to defense, offense and coaching, overall. Offensive Coordinator Shawn Watson is no stranger to that conversation. It's still a game week, and he says the up-coming opponent has changed some things very recently. But there's time enough to talk about some philosophies a bit more.

Going into his last home game as a Husker, you'd think that senior Jacob Hickman might be waxing nostalgic, thinking of all the time he's been at Nebraska. Not so much, he says. There is a lot to think about in regard to his career, but he's more focused on the now. He figures he'll have plenty of time to reminisce once it's all said and done.
