Head-to-head: Navy vs. Air Force

Navy and Air Force meet this Saturday at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium in the first leg of the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy. Last year the Falcons defeated the Mids 14-6 in Colorado Springs to end its seven game losing streak against Navy. Navy enters the game fresh off a bye week after a tremendous effort against number No. 10 ranked South Carolina on the road.

Navy Football Blue & Gold Recap

At least no one was hurt in Navy's annual Blue-Gold spring football game. In an ugly game played in miserable conditions the Blue squad beat the Gold 7-6. For the first time in school history the game was broadcast live by the CBS Sports Network. Navy fans probably wish the cameras weren't there to record the event as both offensive teams struggled.

Navy Spring Football Review

Head coach Ken Niumatalolo stood on the practice field this past Wednesday evening and declared Navy's spring camp a success. It was the last of 14 workouts for the Midshipmen, who opened spring camp on March 28 and concluded it with Friday's annual Blue-Gold game.
"I'm encouraged by where we're at. We answered a lot of questions," Niumatalolo said.

Navy Scrimmage Notebook

The Navy defense got the better of the Navy offense on Saturday, as the first, second, and third team ‘D’ held the Midshipmen offensive units to just three scoring drives in seventeen attempts. Defensive dominance wasn’t the only storyline of the scrimmage, however, with plenty of players vying for playing time on both sides of the football. Here are my observations from Saturday’s action.

Ready to Break-Out for Navy

The first two weeks of fall camp are like no other time in the college football preseason. With the opening game still a month away, many teams (including Navy) are in personnel evaluation mode, finding out which players have a chance to contribute and which players will be backing them up.

Looking for a Few Good Mids

Navy defensive coordinator Buddy Green liked what he saw from his front seven this spring. There was intensity. There was focus. There was depth. And while the former two attributes also characterized the play of Navy’s defensive backs over the four weeks of spring ball, the eighth-year defensive coordinator says the Mids still have a long way to go before beginning the season in September.
