Huskers down one from class of 2010

Navarro Junior College tight end Chase Harper was considered a solid addition for the class of 2010. A uber-athletic tight end with the ability to stretch the field. But his future is now different than it was as he is no longer going to be at Nebraska. Check out the Red Zone for the latest on Harper and why he's not a future Husker anymore.

Harper goes deep

It was the championship game in Corsicana, Texas for Navarro (Texas) and Blinn (Texas). One of the most highly regarded prospects on the field, on both sides of the ball, was undoubtedly Chase Harper. Harper, a 6-foot-6 and around 250-pound tight end for Navarro, didn’t disappoint either. While he did his part, it wasn’t enough to secure a win.

#16 is N!

#16 for the 2010 class is in and that's the fifth known commitment since this weekend for Nebraska. This commitment comes from a player that took an official visit earlier in the year. The time was just right for this player to get it over with because of his relationship with his position/recruiting coach and how Nebraska plans to use him on the field.

“If I had to commit today…”

There might not be a JUCO player that has burst on the scene this year bigger than Chase Harper. The 6-foot-4 and 240-pound tight end didn’t play football last year for Corsicana (Texas) Navarro Junior College last year after not qualifying, but he did play basketball. This year Harper is playing both as well as signing a division one letter of intent in February.

Tight end not a necessity? This one might be

You’d think that of all the positions for Nebraska tight end is the one where there is the least need and certainly the least thought of as needing a junior college player brought in as perhaps a solution to either depth or problems fielding a good staring line up. But when they’re good, you go after them, which is what Nebraska is doing with Chase Harper.
