TigsTown April Pitchers of the Month

Another season, another round of TigsTown monthly awards. As is always the case with the Tiger farm system, there are plenty of pitchers making their case for the season’s first round of monthly honors. The only difference this year, none of them are the hard-throwing strikeout artists General Manager Dave Dombrowski is known for.

Cody Cruising for 'Caps

In four starts this season, West Michigan pitcher Chris Cody is 2-1 with a 0.27 ERA. He has allowed only one earned run in 33 2/3 innings pitched, holding opponents scoreless through his first 24 innings. His 34 strikeouts lead the Midwest League, along with his miniscule ERA. This is not the type of dominance one would expect from a lefty whose fast ball never touches 90 m.p.h.

Tigers Prospect Profile: Chris Cody

Chris Cody won't blow away hitters with a blazing fastball or a knee-buckling curve. Instead, Cody relies on pinpoint control of his mid 80's fastball and the fearlessness to use the pitch at any count. Will he be able to be effective with that as he continues to move up the ladder?
