PHOTO GALLERY: Wyoming @ Idaho

The IDAHO VANDALS faced the Wyoming Cowboys for the annual military appreciation day football game. The game was decided in overtime with a disappointing and frustrating loss for the Vandals. One high note was RYAN BASS who gained 123 yards in 19 carries and had 2 receptions for 15 yards. He is featured in the cover photo where MIKE LAGRONE cracks a cowboy during a 28-yard, 3rd quarter run.

Vandals fall 40-37 to Wyoming in OT

THE VANDALS, FIGHTING FOR THEIR FIRST WIN OF THE 2012 SEASON, had their best shot yet against Wyoming. Unfortunately for Idaho (0-4), it would be Wyoming (1-3) getting away with the victory as the Cowboys connected for a touchdown in overtime to topple the Vandals 40-37 in Moscow. Idaho ammassed 509 yards of total offense, by far their best effort yet. But big Cowboy plays were the difference.

Blackman No.1 QB; Idaho preseason honors

WITH THE 2012 SEASON AROUND THE CORNER AND MUCH OF THE DEPTH CHART GETTING SETTLED, the Vandals announced that junior quarterback DOMINIQUE BLACKMAN will be directing a completely rebuilt Vandal offense in the season opener against Eastern Washington in the Kibbie Dome (August 30th, 6:00PM PST kickoff). PLUS: We look back at several Vandals who earned preseason honors this summer.

Vandals have holes to fill after 2-10 season

A SEASON THAT STARTED WITH LOFTY EXPECTATIONS has mercifully come to an end. Saturday afternoon, on the road in Reno, the Vandals exemplified everything endured this season with in a 56-3 thrashing at the hands of the Wolf Pack. The focus now turns to recruiting to fill holes for 2012, building a line around redshirt freshman center MIKE MARBOE, and a shakeup in the coaching staff is likely.

Vandal road victory is Taylor made

MAKING THE SECOND START OF HIS CAREER AT IDAHO, redshirt sophomore quarterback TAYLOR DAVIS delivered the spark the Vandal offense needed, ending a six-game losing skid with a 32-29 win at San Jose State. After throwing for just 33 yards last week against Hawaii, Davis completed 13-of-20 attempts for 162 yards and a TD at SJSU, while senior tailback Kama Bailey erupted for 163 yards and two TDs.

Vandals Take on 9th Ranked Texas A&M

FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS SEASON THE VANDALS (1-1) LEAVE THE FRIENDLY CONFINES OF THE KIBBIE DOME, and head to fabled College Station to take on 9th ranked Texas A&M (1-0). This is the first meeting between the two programs, as junior tailback RYAN BASS and the Vandals (searching for their identity and consistency in 2010) face a loaded Aggie team with their sights set on a National Championship.

COMING OFF THE STINGING HOME OPENING LOSS TO BOWLING GREEN LAST WEEKEND, the Vandals will look to even their season record with a victory over North Dakota this Saturday (2pm PST kickoff). Given Idaho's struggles last weekend, the Vandals (0-1) will have their hands full against a Fighting Sioux (1-0) team coming off a shutout victory and plans to pay Idaho back for last year's 45-0 drubbing.

THURSDAY NIGHT IN THE SEASON OPENER FOR THE VANDALS, Idaho struggled offensively throughout the game to the visiting Falcons. After electrifying the crowd with a spectacular 51-yard pass play to set-up a touchdown on Idaho's opening drive, the offense became mostly punchless for the rest of the game, falling 32-15 to Bowling Green. Team Captain Brian Reader and tailback RYAN BASS met the media.

Bass Ready for More Opportunities

Very few newcomers in ASU’s 2008 recruiting class had as many accolades as Ryan Bass did. Yet, just like most of his fellow newcomers, the learning curve at fall camp was steep. Fumbles plagued Bass’ play which caused him to sink deeper in the depth chart than some may have anticipated. As a result, he had just three carries in the first five games.

As we start our interview with Ryan Bass, Keegan Herring yells “Catch!” to the unsuspecting freshman and tosses a football. Bass caught it and made sure it never left his side. In light of his fall camp’s fumbling reputation Bass understands Herring’s action. He also feels that he can ultimately shed that stigma and live up to his lofty accolades as an electrifying and sure handed running back.
