Russo On The Mend

There is nothing worse for a ball player to be swinging a hot bat and then having to put your game on hold due to an injury. That is what unfortunately happened to super utility man Kevin Russo on Sunday, June 24th in Indianapolis. After going three for four in the win, Russo was placed on the seven day disabled list the next day due to a sore right hamstring.

Q&A with Jody Reed

We sat down with Yankees minor league defensive infield coordinator Jody Reed for a Q&A session to get his thoughts on whether or not he believes Kevin Russo can handle shortstop in a utility role, if he believes Corban Joseph can stick at second base, if Eduardo Nunez has become a more consistent defender, if he sees Brandon Laird more as a third baseman or a first baseman, and much, much more.

Russo Having Fun In Triple-A

Few players drafted as late as Kevin Russo make it to the majors, but that hasn’t stopped the 24-year-old from becoming one of the Yankees better infield prospects. Russo has quickly climbed the organizational ladder since being drafted in 2006, and with a strong 2009 season, the defensive whiz may be ready to take on a utility role in the majors.
