Cougar linebackers face tough TCU rush

The experience of the Horned Frog rushing attack will play a big part of their offense come Friday’s game. TCU is currently ranked 18th in the country on the ground and the Cougar defense will get a heavy dose of Horned Frog legs that so far on the season have produce an average of 217 yards per game against running backs that collectively average just over six yards per attempt.

Van Noy and Pendleton to spar with Spartans

The strength of the San Jose State Spartan offense revolves around their run game, led by senior do-everything running back Brandon Rutley. After missing two games, fieldside linebacker Jordan Pendleton will be back on the field to try and stop him. On the other side, Kyle Van Noy should get the start in an effort to contain a run based, fast paced Spartan offense.

Linebacker switch-up looks daunting

Jordan Pendleton stepped out onto the practice field on Saturday and resumed his role with the first-team defense as if he had never missed a beat. Now that he’s back, the coaches face the challenge of deciding to do with the two-deep at outside linebacker. That includes choosing the best role for Kyle Van Noy.

Pendleton the first of many

When Jordan Pendleton signed with BYU back in 2007, one could count how many players the Cougars brought in from Bingham High School on one hand. With Scout’s records extending back to 2002, one wouldn’t need any hands to count them all. From 2007 to 2011 though, one would need both hands and all their fingers to count them all.

Number one expects to be back on top

On many levels, it's been a tough spring camp for Jordan Pendleton. He's had to endure the pain of rehab following two surgeries from injuries suffered over the course of last season, and he's had to watch from the sidelines while others get a chance to play the sport he loves. Nevertheless, he's seen a lot of progress and thinks this defense has the potential to be one of BYU's best.

This past Sunday while playing against the Eagles, former BYU wide receiver Austin Collie suffered a big hit that left him crumpled on the turf. For BYU fans, seeing one of their former star players being carted off on a stretcher with his head strapped was difficult to watch. For Jordan Pendleton and his family, it was shear panic.

Pendleton Hopes to Rejoin Team Soon

After suffering sort of a freakish leg injury against Utah State, junior Sam linebacker Jordan Pendleton hopes to rejoin his teammates on the football field. Pendleton, who suited up for Tuesday's practice, was hoping he could rejoin the defense this week but felt it would be better not to push the issue. He does, however, hope to rejoin a defense now under the direction of Coach Mendenhall soon.
