Playing for Pride

Playing for pride is not what an athlete wants to do. That term comes with playing in a game with absolutely nothing on the line, which is exactly where Kansas State and Iowa State find themselves entering this final week of the 2008 season.

Many Line-up Changes to the Two-Deep

Normally, a two-deep football roster is pretty much written in pen one month into the season, but coach Ron Prince is using plenty of pencil lead and wearing out erasers entering the Big 12 season.

Deon Murphy Gets Additional Season

Kansas State senior Deon Murphy is now a junior ... again. Murphy will be a three-position starter for the Wildcats as he's listed as a starting wide receiver, plus No. 1 punt returner and top kickoff return man. Murphy will be part of a veteran starting lineup Saturday against North Texas that includes 20 seniors and juniors

Ranked Wildcats Look for Big 12 North Title

It's two weeks before the opener against North Texas, but third-year Kansas State coach Ron Prince is high enough on his Wildcats to be talking about winning the Big 12 North championship. That's due to the number of returnees, but also the growth in such newcomers as Keithen Valentine and Logan Dold at running back, and Olu Hall at linebacker.

K-State Def Must Be Better from Inside, Out

Kansas State’s offense put up better than 35 points per game in 2007, yet the Wildcats won just five games. That’s because of a defense that didn’t do its part. Out to change that in 2008 is second-year defensive coordinator Tim Tibesar. K-State’s spring game will be played Saturday at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.
