LED BY JUNIOR WEAKSIDE LINEBACKER ROBERT SIAVII, several Vandals (including sophomore linebacker Conrad Scheidt and junior tailback Kama Bailey) will be making a homecoming this weekend as Idaho (4-3, 1-1 WAC) heads to Hawaii (6-2, 4-0 WAC) to battle a strong Warrior team. Idaho beat Hawaii 35-23 last year in a hard fought game in Moscow, but the Vandals haven't won on the islands since 1960.

Spring Depth Chart: The D-Line

THE VANDAL OFFENSIVE LINE HAS STOLEN THE HEADLINES THIS SPRING, but equally crucial will be how the Vandal defense recovers from its 2009 struggles. How much Idaho improves on the defensive side of the ball will depend in large part on how much they improve in the trenches. Among the team leaders, Idaho will have senior defensive end AARON LAVARIAS (6-3, 255) as a cornerstone to build around.

“I think it [being 6-1 at this stage of the season] is great for our seniors, its great for our fans, for the whole team - coach Akey. It’s a great start, but that’s all it is – it’s a start. We need to keep going, we need to keep playing good football. There’s nothing guaranteed yet, but we need to keep playing well, and we have been.” - QB Nathan Enderle following Idaho's win over Hawaii.

The Vandals jumped out to an impressive 21-0 lead going into halftime at New Mexico State on Saturday, looking poised and prepared (including MAX KOMAR rolling over an Aggie defender for a TD) in the season opener for both schools. In the second half the Idaho offense stalled, but the Vandal defense forced a couple Aggie turnovers in a bend-but-don't-break approach, yielding just one touchdown.

'09 PREVIEW: Developing Run Stuffers

Aguably, the success of the 2009 season rests squarely on the shoulders of the Vandal defensive line this fall. Obviously, its a team game and all units will need to play well to register more wins. But this group must set the tone defensively. With preseason All-WAC 1st Team selection JONAH SATARAKA (6-2, 289) leading the charge at noseguard, the Vandals will focus on becoming a brick wall.
