VANDAL PREGAME: Idaho hosts Utah State

This Saturday the Vandals will host the Utah State Aggies in the finale of what has turned out to be a season to remember for Idaho fans. Coach Akey and crew have delivered on promises made three years ago when they took over the Idaho program, making the Vandals the surprise of the WAC in 2009. Twelve seniors will play their last home game in Moscow Saturday, as the team battles for a bowl bid.

Komar and Enderle discuss loss at UW

The Vandal offense jumped out to a tenuous beginning, committing numerous offsides and holding penalties on their first drive and getting into a first-down-and-a-mile situation. But the team gained its composure and racked up 412 yards of total offense against the Huskies. Despite the production in the middle of the field, the offense stalled in the redzone. Komar and Enderle discuss the game.

Vandals Win Opener, Down NMSU 21-6

The Vandals jumped out to an impressive 21-0 lead going into halftime at New Mexico State on Saturday, looking poised and prepared (including MAX KOMAR rolling over an Aggie defender for a TD) in the season opener for both schools. In the second half the Idaho offense stalled, but the Vandal defense forced a couple Aggie turnovers in a bend-but-don't-break approach, yielding just one touchdown.

'09 PREVIEW: "The Retrievers"

The wide receiver unit has taken their lumps in recent years, both in the press and on the field. In the last five years Idaho has operated under three different offensive coordinators, and this unit has suffered its share of attrition over the years. But this season, led by senior slot receiver MAX KOMAR and an experienced depth chart, the Vandals are poised to make the passing game a weapon.

MID-WEEK MEDIA CALL: Robb Akey

Saturday's outcome was a frustrating followup to a solid performance two weeks ago, as the Vandals lost 46-14 on the road at Louisiana Tech (complete with questionable calls). Despite the frustrating setback, Idaho Head Coach ROBB AKEY talks about QB Nathan Enderle's development, the growing roles of some of the younger players on the team, and his philosophy about rebuilding this program.

PHOTO GALLERY: Idaho vs La Tech

Although Idaho's offense struggled yesterday, redshirt freshman tailback DEONTE JACKSON passed the 1000-yard mark for the season and Idaho led this game 16-14 in the fourth quarter thanks to a tremendous defensive and special teams effort. But Idaho's inability to score took its toll as the Bulldogs mounted two fourth quarter TD drives for the 28-16 win. (All images inside by Larry Johnson)
