Baseball advances to Regional Finals

Stanford never trailed Saturday, handling Arkansas with relative ease. Sunday, however, the Cardinal needed Brent Milleville's two-run shot in the ninth inning to take the lead for good against the pesky Aggies. The Cardinal now must win two from Pepperdine to advance to Super Regionals. Stay tuned to TheBootleg.com for the latest updates!

Card smoke Santa Clara 15-4 in home finale

After fighting three tense battles with Cal, Jason Castro and friends took matters into their own hands -- and over the Sunken Diamond walls -- yesterday. Castro's three-run homer put Stanford up 6-4, and David Stringer, David Sandbrink and Rex Petrill made sure that lead stood.

Stanford salvages Cal series

Brent Milleville better get an insurance policy for his bat. His 450-foot fifth-inning grand slam to left could have knocked out a lightpole and left a crater on the field hockey turf. Instead, it gave Stanford an 8-5 victory over Cal and kept the Card one game behind Arizona State in the Pac-10, with two series to go.

Off the Schneid

The season of Pac-10 perfect futility is over. After losing their first six conference series of 2007, and seven straight going back to the end of the 2006 season, Stanford Baseball on Sunday took the rubber game against Washington with a 10-7 victory. Six Stanford batters had multiple-hit games, with plenty of power at the plate. Starter Erik Davis gave up just one earned run in 6 2/3 innings.

Baseball Bounces Back in Reno

Stanford Baseball did three novel things Tuesday: score throughout a game, pitch strong out of the bullpen and avoid imploding in the field. The result was a 9-4 victory at Nevada, ending the Cardinal's six-game losing skid. Two players had perfect days at the plate, and a third nudged his average briefly over .400. Junior David Stringer closed with two-hit shutout pitching the final five innings.

Ugly Loss Ends Streak For Cardinal

It wasn't pretty for Stanford on Tuesday night in Santa Clara. Ten walks, three hit batters, and two errors for the pitching/defense plus 14 runners left on base on the hitting side. Add it all up and the Cardinal were left on the wrong end of a 13-5 score to the Broncos. The loss ended Stanford's eight-game winning streak as the Cardinal now prepare for a weekend series with USC.
