Adeniji, Kristick, Peat find NFL homes

THREE BEAVERS SIGNED undrafted free agent contracts and will get a shot at the NFL -- WR Damola Adeniji, LB Keaton Kristick and OL Gregg Peat, and two moves came with surprises. With Kristick, many thought an NFL team might get themselves a steal with a 6-7th round draft pick. As for Adeniji, no one was talking about the NFL a year ago -- after all, he was a walk-on with one career catch.

Sizing up the Beavs in the NFL Draft mix

THE NFL DRAFT got underway Thursday and here's one for the books -- Idaho had more picks (1) in the first round than did USC (0). Oregon State and Oregon had no players selected, but that figures to change this weekend. QB Sean Canfield and LB Keaton Kristick are generally regarded by the cyberspace draft gurus as OSU's top NFL prospects. But could other Beavs jump up into the NFL draft mix?

Fast start by Beaver D leads to win at ASU

IT WAS THE fast start Oregon State was looking for against ASU. Defensive pressure by the line, the offense stretching the field a bit, well those were found too. An upset road Pac-10 win is what the Beavs needed, and that the defense led the way made it that much better.

FALL CAMP DAY 15: Game prep means season near

CORVALLIS -- The double day practices for fall camp concluded Wednesday, and Oregon State took it rather easy in the evening session, going helmets only and mostly drilling on the schemes of Portland State while walking through their offense and defense with just over a week to go before the season begins.

VOX: Riley talks DE overview, more

CORVALLIS--The Beavs, in Kevin Frahm, Ben Terry & Co., are replacing two star senior d-ends. And it's hard not to expect there to be some dropoff after Victor Butler and Slade Norris. But Mike Riley isn't ready to accept that premise, not based on the early results. "Frankly, it looks like we have a chance to be good there," says Riley, one of several topics the head man touched on.

A.M. SESSION: Highlights aplenty

CORVALLIS — The morning session provided a glimpse into the future -- both near and distant -- of the OSU secondary. Josh LaGrone is looking up at the safety starters on the depth chart. But the redshirt freshman has some serious upside, and it was in evidence on Saturday morning. Cornerbacks Tim Clark and Patrick Henderson were busy making plays, as were Sean Canfield and a gaggle of others.

FALL CAMP STORYLINES: Defensive End

IT’S TOUGH not to think there wouldn't be a drop-off at defensive end. Gone is last year's senior duo, along with all those sacks and TFL’s. But hardly anyone envisioned the two first-time starters to shine as brightly as they did in '08, and Ben Terry, Kevin Frahm and co. might have some surprises of their own to unveil. BF.C in a continuing series leading up to fall camp breaks down the d-ends..

POST-SPRING BREAKDOWN: Defensive Line

CORVALLIS -- With the loss of prized bookends Slade Norris and Victor Strong-Butler to graduation, many questions were raised in the early stages of the spring ball. Who would emerge to fill their roles? Would there be a big drop-off in production? How would the black and orange pass rush be affected? And what about inside the trenches -- how is Paea looking and who might line up off his shoulder?

WHERE DO THINGS stand in the battle at the one cornerback spot? How about weakside linebacker? One thing that was revealed on D this spring, there were plenty of standouts up and down the OSU defensive line, where three of four starters will be new this season. BeaverFootball.com gives our take of the defensive two-deeps and breaks 'em all down post-spring and heading into the summer months.

SPRING BALL DAY 7: Riley not thrilled

MORE INCLEMENT WEATHER in Corvallis forced the Oregon State football team indoors to Truax on Monday. There were some bright spots from the seventh spring practice -- defensive end Ben Terry and corner Tim Clark and the Beaver secondary to name a few -- but on balance, like the weather outside, the bottom line was a mediocre day in the eyes of Beavers' head man Mike Riley.

SPRING BALL: What we've learned, Week 1

NO MATTER WHAT you do in spring ball, there are never quite enough snaps to go around for the quarterbacks. The Beavs are missing Lyle Moevao and have a clear No. 1 in Sean Canfield, and there still aren't enough hours in the day as far as the QBs go. That, standout performers, injury updates, and tying it all together into here's what we have learned from the first week of spring practice.
