The club also placed outfielder Scott Hairston on the 15-day disabled list with a torn ligament in his left thumb and, in a move reported first by MadFriars.com, purchased the contracts of right-handed pitcher Josh Geer and outfielder Will Venable from Triple-A Portland.</description>
