Basketball-Football Doubleheader For Herd

It's a rare doubleheader for Thundering Herd fans on Saturday, November 29. Well, maybe not so rare, as the Marshall men's and women's basketball teams also have a doubleheader on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 4 p.m. for the ladies (vs. UT-Arlington) and 7:30 p.m. for the gentlemen (against ETSU). But first, Saturday, ODU will face Donnie Jones' team at 11:30 a.m., followed by football vs. TU at 3:30 p.m.

Marshall Beats Southern Miss, 34-27

Two weeks. Two "Hail Mary" passes by Marshall opponents. Both broken up by Herd defensive backs to seal wins against Conference USA teams, and this time against a team MU had never defeated in three seasons in C-USA. Marshall ran, passed, kicked and defended Southern Miss better than ever before, resulting in a 34-27 win, where the Golden Eagles had won nine straight C-USA openers at "The Rock."

Herd Works Wednesday Morning, Kicks P.M.

One down, one to go, was the theme of Wednesday morning when the Thundering Herd finished the next-to-last morning workout with some highlights on both sides of the ball. Defensively, you would have not know that, however, as Defensive Coordinator Rick Minter gave his white-shirted charges about an ear-full for 15 minutes after Head Coach Mark Snyder dismissed the team.

Herd Works Hard Tuesday, Two Wednesday

Marshall football is heading down the stretch when it comes to camp, as just three more days and five more practices remain. Head Coach Mark Snyder has decided to move up his "walk-through" scrimmage to Friday afternoon (closed to the public) and give the team 48 hours off to get the dead weight out of the legs the weekend before the opener with Illinois State on Aug. 30 at 4:30 p.m.

Herd Back To Work Monday AM

After about 24 hours off for the first time in 15 days, the Thundering Herd gathered Sunday night to look at the video of Saturday's scrimmage. Then it was back to the FieldTurf of the Joan C. Edwards Stadium on Monday at 7:30 a.m. for the beginning of the final week of football camp. The Herd wore full pads and had some spring in its step according to head coach Mark Snyder.
