Basketball-Football Doubleheader For Herd

It's a rare doubleheader for Thundering Herd fans on Saturday, November 29. But first, Saturday, ODU will face Donnie Jones' team at 11:30 a.m., followed by football vs. TU at 3:30 p.m.

Herd Must Win 2 Of Final 3 For Bowl

Marshall was written off for dead after a stunning loss at UAB. But the Herd rallied and beat Houston, 37-23, at home in a game that wasn't that close. Although the Herd fell to East Carolina in a game that went overtime, 19-16, Marshall can still obtain a number of goals. With two wins in the next three games, the Herd will be bowl eligible for on a Conference USA's six bowls, or win out for 7-5.

Herd Works Wednesday Morning, Kicks P.M.

One down, one to go, was the theme of Wednesday morning when the Thundering Herd finished the next-to-last morning workout with some highlights on both sides of the ball. Defensively, you would have not know that, however, as Defensive Coordinator Rick Minter gave his white-shirted charges about an ear-full for 15 minutes after Head Coach Mark Snyder dismissed the team.

Herd Hits For First Time Saturday

Marshall football put on the full pads for the first time on Saturday, August 9, and several hundred Herd fans showed up to watch the "Hoot-N-Holler" drill, usually a first-day highlight. But in an effort to stay away from the kind of injuries Marshall sustained in the 2007 season, "H-N-H" was only seven series and hardly a starter was seen in the drill that resulted in just two scores.

Notes, Quotes From Day One-2008 Herd Football

Marshall began the 2008 season the way Herd football teams have began since this writer was a freshman student-manager in 1975: moving in (then-Hodges; now-Twin Towers East), checking in with the coaches (then-Gullickson Hall; now-Shewey Athletic Center) and heading to the field (then-Fairfield Stadium; now-Joan C. Edwards Stadium). At least the jerseys are still green, white & red (for QBs).
