Fascinating facts from weekend's draft

TWO COUGARS WERE DRAFTED over the weekend right about where most pundits envisioned, and four others considered on the bubble were signed quickly as free agents. Indeed, other than Brady Quinn's big slide, the only head-turner for me over the weekend was this discovery: Only one of the 32 players taken in the first round hailed from the Pac-10.
NFL draft: forecasting the Cougs

FOR COUGAR WATCHERS, about the only certainty during this weekend's NFL draft is that Jason Hill will be picked on the first day. The consensus among the array of forecasters is that the record-setting wideout will go somewhere between the middle-second and high-third rounds. But for Hill's nine teammates who also are looking for a shot at pro ball this year, the outlook ranges widely.

Cougs shine as NFL scouts look on

PULLMAN -- Scouts from about a dozen NFL teams, plus the CFL's B.C. Lions, kept their stopwatches close to the vest Wednesday as they put 10 WSU seniors through workouts. But the buzz coming out of The Bubble was that two Cougs wanting badly to improve on their showings from last week's NFL Combine did just that. And one of their 323-pound teammates looked downright swift motoring down the line.

Pullman Pro Day: 10 Cougs ready to strut

JASON HILL IS slated to be drafted as high as the first round, but for the rest of the outgoing WSU senior football players looking for a shot at pro ball, today offers a huge opportunity to make a statement. It's Pro Day on the Palouse, as scouts from several teams will put prospects through their paces. Linebacker Scott Davis says he's just looking for a chance to get on the free agent radar.
