It was ugly (again), but it was a win

Getting lit up for over a thousand yards in the last two games isn't going to thrill any defensive coach. For first year defensive line coach Buddy Wyatt, you could consider that an understatement. He likes the effort of his team, but with just about everything else, he sees this group has some work to do.

Wyatt and company trying to rebound this week

It's been said enough that anyone outside of Lincoln knows all about what happened to Nebraska against USC. Of course, nobody needs to tell the team. For the defensive line especially, they probably have both a chip on their shoulder and a little egg on their face. D.L. coach Buddy Wyatt talked about how this week is just about getting back to basics.

Defensive line getting better

You've got all starters who weren't starters last year. Then add in a true newcomer in Kevin Dixon, who in his first year at Nebraska has had to fill in for Ty Steinkuhler, who is still trying to come back from an injury. That's a lot of development which needs to take place and take place quickly. It's never as quick as you like, but defensive line coach Buddy Wyatt likes what he's seen thus far.

Post Game Audio - Buddy Wyatt

It wasn't text book. Sometimes it was downright ugly. But it was a win, and when the defensive line needed to step up, it did. That's all gratifying for Defensive Line Coach Buddy Wyatt, but he knows his group has a ways to go.
