Louisville Falls Short in Comeback Attempt

After skipping the high-A level and finishing with a flat three AA ERA last season Daniel Corcino is a consensus top-fur prospect in the Cincinnati system and one of the top-rated pitching prospects in the major leagues. His AAA experience has been challenging thus far, but his age is ahead of schedule for the level and the Reds expect improvement this year.

Rotation Depth

Recently the Reds 2013 rotation has been confirmed, but it was done in a way that leaves some question on who will be their #6 if needed. It was only needed one time in 2012, but everyone wants some depth behind the opening day rotation to address unexpected needs. The top to candidates for Cincinnati are a couple of prospects making AAA debuts this year.

Top 30 Reds Prospects: No. 3

Efforts to tap into Caribbean talent landed Cincinnati a couple of elite arms in Johnny Cueto and Aroldis Chapman. 22 year-old Dominican Daniel Corcino is now the top candidate to join them. He’s entered some top 100 lists and after starting out as a 17 year-old in the Dominican League he’s now set for AAA.

AA Year in Review

In the standings Pensacola had a mediocre season, finishing with a record slightly below .500. Of course the main goal in the minor leagues is to develop players for advancement to contribute to the parent team's effort. Some Wahoos made the jump to an AAA roster that was decimated by promotions and offseason trades. With future trades pending, they figure to see more stability in 2013.

Corcino Tosses Another Gem

Daniel Corcino is hitting his stride at Pensacola. After skipping high-A to start the season the 21 year-old is putting up some impressive outings against more advanced hitters. He threw eight innings of a no-hitter before he was selected to the Southern League All Star team. Last night he continued to build a case for another promotion when he allowed only one over eight against Jackson.

Pensacola No-Hits Mobile

Daniel Corcino made a strong statement last night when he tossed eight innings of the first no-hitter in Blue Wahoo history. He struck out nine while throwing 110 pitches. The Pensacola rotation has accumulated a lot of talent with several of the top prospects in the Reds organization. They should be making an impact at higher levels in the not-so-distant future.

Four Run 7th Sinks Wahoos

Daniel Corcino is the top rated prospect currently pitching in the Cincinnati development system. A strong year at Dayton prompted the Reds to have him skip high-A and start the season at Pensacola. After a few shaky starts the 21 year-old right-hander is now starting to put together a solid season at the AA level.
