Phipps on Tear at Gwinnett

Before the season Cincinnati had no way of knowing that a couple of injuries would necessitate the need for so much depth in the outfield. The trio of reserves used thus far have done well and the Reds have a couple of other minor league veterans in Louisville making a case in the event they have to make another call to the farm.

Phipps Gets One More Shot

One year ago Denis Phipps was a rising star in the Cincinnati organization and even considered a possible leadoff candidate should the Reds need one. The need arose, but Phipps was not in a position to answer the call. After missing a golden opportunity he re-signed with the Reds who hope that he will return to 2011 form.

AAA Season Recap

As is sometimes the challenge for minor league teams, the Louisville Bats had to contend with massive turnovers from their 2011 roster and struggled through a 51-93 season which was the worst record in the International League. Promotions and trades left a void at the top of the Reds system that will begin to fill as top remaining propsects advance next year.

Lousville Scores 22

It might have been a Fireworks Friday last night at Great American Ballpark, but the Reds saw sparks fly elsewhere in their system when two of their affiliates scored 22 runs. Louisville jumped on Gwinnett early and cruised to a 22-1 win. Later in the evening Billings scored 16 runs over their last three at-bats to beat Orem 22-6.

Phipps Looks to Get Back on Track in Arizona

After five years of obscurity in the Cincinnati organization OF Denis Phipps zoomed onto many radars after a breakout season in 2011. He had an impressive spring training and was considered a candidate for promotion before struggling at Louisville to start this season. He's now rehabbing at Arizona after spending a month on the DL from a shoulder injury.
