The Blaze offense worked by combining a high on-base pct along with leading the league in steals.  That was plenty of offense for a  pitching staff that had the league's lowest ERA.  Five players were selected to represent the Blaze in this year's all-star game.</description>

      <description>Bakersfield slugger Donald Lutz went 5-5 with his 11th homer in a 11-6 win over Stockton.  The first basemen is now tied for the Cal League lead in home runs. 

Justice French has not allowed a run in two starts since his promotion from Dayton.  The late-round pick has overcome some serious health concerns and has shown great control as he advances through the Reds system.</description>

He's now tied for second in the California League while keeping a .309 average.  Tony Cingrani tossed five innings in another scoreless outing.  His ERA is down to 0.32.</description>

      <description>23 year-old Donald Lutz grew up in Germany and did not start playing baseball until he was sixteen years old.  He led Bakersfield last night going 4-5 with two doubles and three runs scored, including the game winner in the 9th.  That performanced lifted his batting average over .300 on the season.</description>
