Nuding Changing It Up

TRENTON, NJ - A 1-5 record really doesn’t do justice for the 6-foot-4, 260 pound right-hander Zach Nuding in his ninw starts this season for the Double-A Trenton Thunder. Of all the pitchers who have started six games or more, he leads the staff with a 3.28 ERA. What really has made coaches open their eyes though is the mental approach to the game and his poise on the mound in every start.

Scouting Yankees Prospect #42: Zach Nuding

The Yankees drafted right-handed pitcher Zach Nuding in the 30th round of the 2010 MLB Draft out of Weatherfield College. Always known for his power arm, he has slowly and steadily been developing the other areas of his game over the past two years to the point where he has become more of a pitcher and not a pure thrower.

Nuding Tightening It Up

While the overall numbers might not show it, the emergence of Zach Nuding as a legitimate pitching prospect in the organization was one of the bigger stories down on the farm in 2011. He did it on the strength of his power arm and he spent his time at Instructs gaining more faith in his offspeed pitches, and in particular tightening up his slider.

Nuding Looking To Be A Step Above

Zach Nuding has made great strides with his pitching over the course of the 2011 season. While the overall numbers are solid, lately he has continued to dominate with his power fastball, improved his slider and added a changeup to his repertoire. Having made such progress on all three of his pitches, he hopes to keep the trend going for the rest of the season and beyond.

Nuding On The Attack

Charleston right-hander Zach Nuding continues to be one of the best stories in the early part of the 2011 season. While his power arm is one of the reasons for his success, the bigger part has been his willingness to go right after batters.

One of the more pleasant surprises heading into the start of the 2011 minor league season is right-hander Zach Nuding. Initially thought to be a power reliever type after being drafted last year, the Yankees started grooming him to be a starter in camp and now it appears he'll be a mainstay in the Charleston rotation this year.
