OSU SPRING DAY 12: A disruptive Beaver D

CORVALLIS – It was the defense’s day to shine on Day 12, as batted balls and interceptions from the defensive backs typified a good portion of Monday’s practice. The linebackers made some noise too. Obum Gwacham – accepting the baton or simply having a good stretch? Isaac Seumalo makes progress as Week Four begins, and Mike Riley offers the inside scoop on who has improved during the spring.

SPRING DAY 9: Injury bug bites Beav TEs

CORVALLIS–Connor Hamlett went down, and Tyler Perry went down harder. Two Beav tight ends saw an early halt to their practice session on Monday and while one didn’t appear serious, the other got hauled off the field in a cart wearing a look of anguish on his face. There was other news on Day Nine, including a new look on defense, the tailbacks put on a show and the secondary deserves some praise.

Who fills DT void after injury strikes?

DAMN THAT INJURY BUG. And thanks a lot, striking at a position where only junior college transfers were running with the 1s this spring at Oregon State. But injuries are part of the game and what's done is done. So with Siale Hautau reportedly breaking his hand, who now fills the void for the remainder of spring at one of the d-tackle spots for the Beavs? What veterans will step up?

MIKE RILEY HAS unearthed some recruiting gems over the years at Oregon State but he’ll need to have done so again this past class at one position in particular. In looking at the spring depth chart, there’s a big, big eye opener on the interior of the defensive line.

OSU SPRING PREVIEW: The defensive line

CORVALLIS -- Oregon State's defense benefitted greatly from a pair of senior defensive tackles last season but they’re now gone.
CORVALLIS -- Mike Riley was absent on Day 12 of the Beavers fall camp – Mark Banker called the shots and at session’s end, there were water balloons involved. But a slew of Beaver players remained inactive during practice today and the defense is still in the midst of rebuilding, says Banker. Still, we asked the OSU d-coordinator who is standing out on D and he had no shortage of names to offer..

FALL CAMP DAY 7, II: Damn that injury bug

CORVALLIS - The second half of Monday’s practice was relatively low key -- until the very end. That’s when a potentially serious injury occurred to one of the Beavs’ highly rated freshman offensive linemen from the new recruiting class.
BF.C Fall Camp Preview: DEFENSIVE LINE

SOMETIMES YOU HAVE to really look at the bright side when looking at fall camp position preview, nobody likes to envision a season of doom and gloom. That is not the case for the 2012 Oregon State defensive line. You can call it like it is. If 2011 was a season of promise unfulfilled for the Oregon State defensive line, then 2012 is setting up to be a season of redemption.

POST-SPRING ANALYSIS: Defensive Line

THE BEAVER D-LINE has some star power with a pair of d-ends who could be as good as anybody in the Pac-12. And the Beavs had a good spring on the defensive line. So how much of that was because the Beavs had few bodies to go around on the offensive line?

RECRUITING: The Sleepers

EVERYONE LOVES the sleepers -- many of Oregon State's best have come from this category over the years. They have some of the highest ceilings, and it’s compelling to watch and see if they will capitalize on all of that potential. The first in a three-part series focuses on the members of the 2011 Beaver class who, after some seasoning in the OSU system, could well become big contributors.
