Shoff Still Waiting

Mike Shoff almost committed to Iowa earlier this summer but decided against it. The 2012 NE DT finds himself in a tough position as he waits for an in-state offer he desires but runs the risk of losing something already in hand.

Player Spotlight: Mike Shoff

Nebraska native Mike Shoff was an All-State performer at Sutton High School as a sophomore. He received an offer from the University of Iowa the following May. All set for a big junior showing at a new school, Cambridge High School, he sustained a knee injury during the summer which sidelined him for most of the year.

Shoff wants Nebraska offer

Never mind the storyline for Mike Shoff and this year’s Nebraska camp. Missing last year’s camp is ancient history. Maybe not having a Nebraska offer because of the knee injury last year is old news. Shoff just wants to come to Lincoln in June and perform well. Make no mistake though, he wants that Nebraska offer.

Shoff visits Lincoln

There were a lot of in-state players in Lincoln this weekend for the annual Red-White spring game at Nebraska including Mike Shoff from Cambridge (Nebr.). The Huskers haven’t offered any in-state players yet, but it’s clear that after the summer camps that there could be some offers. Shoff is one of those players that projects to get one and he liked what he saw in Lincoln today.

Shoff Would Commit If…

Mike Shoff has already attended the Nebraska Junior Day and plans on attending their camp this summer. “I think them going to the Big Ten is a good move for them,” Shoff said. “It’ll be great for the program. The Big Ten is a very prestigious conference and I really like coach Bo Pelini. He’s bringing the program back to where they were in the ‘80s and ‘90s. I love the direction of the program."

Shoff takes in JR Day

Saturday was a big day in Lincoln. It was the first junior day with a staff that has gone through some changes. Not all of the staff was in Lincoln, but those that were there left very positive impressions on the recruits. One of those recruits was Mike Shoff. Shoff went to Lincoln looking for some time with the coaches and to talk about which position they like him at.

Offense OR Defense?

Mike Shoff is a name that many thought by now could have had a Nebraska offer and possibly been part of the 2012 recruiting class for Nebraska. Fate it seems has a weird way of getting in the path of thoughts like that. Shoff ended up suffering a knee injury before summer camp last year, but is back to full strength. What is he up to and what are his thoughts on recruiting?

Settling in

This summer hasn’t exactly gone the way that Mike Shoff planned. The knee injury definitely wasn’t in the plans and now it still hangs over him as two a days start up. Shoff is dealing with the injury as best he can and coming back, albeit coming back slowly. At the beginning of next month juniors can start fielding calls and receiving offers. Shoff likes his chances of picking up one or two

Shoff comments on visit

Back in 2008, there was a big sophomore that made his way to Nebraska summer camp and didn’t even need to participate. That player was Andrew Rodriguez. The story about Mike Shoff of Sutton (Nebr.), soon to be Cambridge, is much the same. People saw him on the football field and the wrestling mat and said that he was huge beyond his years. Today Shoff was in Lincoln for an unofficial visit.

One of the Nebraska elite for 2012

I can only imagine what is going through the minds of fellow 100 meter participants when they line up on the blocks with Sutton, Nebraska’s Mike Shoff. There they are, probably anywhere from 5-8 to 6-2. And Mike? He’s 6-6. On top of that he’s 290 lbs. Yeah, that’s what kind of athlete this Husker State sophomore is right now. Imagine what he’ll be down the road.
