At the end of the spring football session Will Muschamp and staff meet with every football player about their progress from a career standpoint and current progress as it relates to where they are heading. The meeting is to talk about what they need to do to get to the point where they can be the most productive for the program and in some circumstances, whether they expect them to be productive.

Season of improvement for Driskel

Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel went into preseason camp fighting for a starting job. He’ll line up under center on Wednesday to quarterback a BCS game. The sophomore’s transformation from beginning to end of the year is one offensive coordinator Brent Pease is proud of, but he’s even more excited for the two years Driskel has left on campus, as he continues to develop at the position.

Driskel using bowl practice to his advantage

Being away from the practice field gave Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel some time to reflect. He was able to think back over his first regular season as a starter and find some areas that needed to improve. It wasn’t always easy to do that during the season. The constant week-to-week grind of game plans dominated his mind during the season, but he’s using bowl practice to improve fundamentals.

Ankle doesn't slow Driskel's performance

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – As the medication wore off at the end of the game and Jeff Driskel started to feel his ankle sprain more, the Florida quarterback welcomed the pain. The real damage had already been delivered on the field while the Gators were running out the clock for a 37-26 win. It would have taken much more than Driskel’s ankle sprain to keep the sophomore quarterback off the field.

After sitting out against Jacksonville State with a sprained right ankle, Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel will return to the practice field on Tuesday as the team begins preparation for Florida State. That’s all coach Will Muschamp knows at this point. Driskel is expected to play on Saturday, but Muschamp isn’t sure if he will start.

Driskel and offense working on the deep ball

In a season where the Gators have overachieved in many fans’ eyes there can be those moments of brevity even if it is about something that isn’t going quite as well. One of those moments happened on Saturday in the first offensive series when sophomore quarterback Jeff Driskel rolled out of the pocket to his left after he was being rushed and he threw the ball out of bounds.

Florida offense still leaning on its defense

Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel knows Saturday wasn’t his best performance. With defensive linemen constantly in his face and a Florida rushing attack that was slow to get started, the sophomore quarterback wasn’t put in many positions to succeed on Saturday. However, he knows that he missed some throws, too. It wasn’t an eye-popping performance from the offense yet again.

Driskel expects to learn from mistakes

Something we have learned about Florida’s sophomore quarterback Jeff Driskel is that he is one tough customer. In a game against Georgia where the Gators turned the ball over six times and he was responsible for four of them, he was leading his team down the field with less than three minutes to go and try to send the game to overtime. It was to no avail. But just two yards short of a big finish.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel owned it. He threw two interceptions and lost two fumbles in easily the worst game of his career, but the sophomore quarterback took responsibility for it after the game. His decisions on the field kept points off the board as the Florida offense struggled and often set the Georgia offense up for points.

The Florida Gators were perched as high as they could possibly expect to be when the first BCS poll of the season came out on Sunday. The Gators are undefeated and have played maybe the toughest schedule in America so far, but they also have work to do in order to shore up some weak spots. Quarterback Jeff Driskel understands all of that and expects his team to continue to progress.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — With all eyes on Mike Gillislee after the statistics the senior running back has put up, quarterback Jeff Driskel decided to pounce. The Gators pounded the ball 34 times with Gillislee last week against LSU, and the Vanderbilt defense was ready for it again. Driskel used that mindset against them, burning the Commodores for a record-setting 177 yards on the ground.

Florida’s faith in Jeff Driskel balloons with each win. The staff’s confidence in the sophomore first fired in the season opener against Bowling Green, when the Oviedo native racked up more snaps at quarterback than Jacoby Brissett. It continued in College Station, Texas, when he was named UF’s starting quarterback. This week, he joined Sam Robey and Sharrif Floyd in the coveted role as captain.

The throw looked simple on film. Jeff Driskel received a shotgun snap on 3rd and 7, took a three-step drop and threw a five-yard pass to Frankie Hammond. The senior wide receiver did the rest, completing a 75-yard touchdown pass to clinch the game for Florida. Through the speed and cutback ability that Hammond showed to steal the show, the continued development of Driskel went under the radar.

Driskel Improvement Continues in Road Win

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.—Jeff Driskel spent his week correcting issues. The sophomore quarterback was sacked eight times at Texas A&M last week, and six of them came when he held the football too long. He wasn’t sacked once by Tennessee. Driskel stood in the pocket, delivering big throws on target while taking hits. It was a product of the time spent last week in practice.
