Rodriguez Getting Untracked at Bakersfield

20 year-old Yorman Rodriguez is in his fifth minor league season in the Cincinnati organization after the Reds signed the Venezuelan as 16 year-old with a $2.5 million bonus. He’s making his return to the Cali League much more success the second time around and is the youngest player on the Bakersfield roster.

Top 30 Reds Prospects: No. 19

Yorman Rodriguez was a high-profile prospect when Cincinnati signed the Venezuelan as a sixteen year-old in 2009. He’s another high-risk/high-reward player and his 2012 season did little to reduce the risk part of that description as it applies to him. His still only 20 and a breakout season this year would trigger an abrupt change in his direction down the prospect lists.

Rodriguez Settling in at Dayton

Outfielder Yorman Rodriguez has been a high profile prospect in the Cincinnati system since he was signed for $2.5 million as a sixteen year-old. A shoulder injury cut short his 2011 season and after a disappointing start he's now back at Dayton at age nineteen. Since his return he's starting to show skills the Reds had hoped to see when they signed him as a free agent out of Venezuela.

Rodriguez Returns to Dayton

Yorman Rodriguez was atop the Reds' prospect list after they inked the then-16 year-old for $2.5 million in 09. It was a record signing bonus for a Venezuelan prospect. After hitting .339 at Billings in 2010 his status fell when injury cut his season short last year. After a slow start in Bakersfield he's now back at Dayton and is still the youngest player on their roster at 19.
