SPRING DAY 9: Injury bug bites Beav TEs

CORVALLIS–Connor Hamlett went down, and Tyler Perry went down harder. Two Beav tight ends saw an early halt to their practice session on Monday and while one didn’t appear serious, the other got hauled off the field in a cart wearing a look of anguish on his face. There was other news on Day Nine, including a new look on defense, the tailbacks put on a show and the secondary deserves some praise.

OSU SPRING DAY 5: Lots to talk about

CORVALLIS – It may only be Day Five of spring ball for the Beavs but things are heating up. The hunt for talented depth continues in the linebacker, cornerback and wide receiver corps and Mike Cavanaugh shows no mercy when it comes to his pool of offensive linemen. Obum Gwacham has a strong day, Brandin Cooks takes a player under his wing and much more…

OSU SPRING DAY 3: Battle in the trenches

CORVALLIS – Day Three of spring ball marked the first day of shoulder pads for Oregon State, and it was a significant change of pace. The cracks were louder and the competition got heated. Sean Harlow made his presence known and Tyler Hasty made the sidelines roar. Couple that with Storm Woods and Terron Ward turning on the jets, and it added up to one heck of a day inside the Truax Center.

OSU SPRING PREVIEW: The defensive line

CORVALLIS -- Oregon State's defense benefitted greatly from a pair of senior defensive tackles last season but they’re now gone.
BF.C COMMENTARY: Ask the Insiders

THE 2012 CAMPAIGN featured a stellar run defense stacked on the shoulders of two good defensive tackles in Andrew Seumalo and Castro Masaniai. But now they're gone, lost to graduation. The Beavers have gone HEAVY with junior college d-line recruits. Does this reflect a lack of prospects that are game ready? Insiders Chad Luther and Drew Wilson-McGrath address that and more....

BF.C Keys to the Game: Stanford

I’M GOING TO get a little Zen on you here, BF.C readers. For what seems like the sixth time this season, the Beavers face an opponent whom SURELY they cannot slay. Stanford features the No. 1 rushing defense in the country and without a doubt, they have a fearsome defensive front leading a ferocious defense, which has only surrendered more than 20 points once this season. Then again…

Examining up close the Beaver DL success

CORVALLIS – On paper, OSU’s defensive line on Saturday will combat a floundering offensive line headed by a frustrated quarterback. But Washington still poses a real threat to No. 7 Oregon State’s plans to remain unbeaten. The question – how will Beavs’ d-line perform against QB Keith Price, RB Bishop Sankey and a rocky UW o-line come Saturday? And how did OSU’s d-line get on this roll?

CORVALLIS -- UCLA keeps playing with gusto, while OSU is on their own upward glide path. OSU’s first in-conference rival of the 2012 season will not be an easy game, and UCLA has the benefit of three games of experience to the Beavers’ one. A lot is on the line this Saturday, so who has the edge? We break down every position and tell you, and make an early week prediction on the outcome to boot.

If 2011 was a season of promise unfulfilled for the Oregon State defensive line, then 2012 is setting up to be a season of redemption.
