On the Hardwood

It’s an interesting story. Ask either Donovan Vestal of Arlington (Texas) Bowie his thoughts on Jamal Turner from Arlington (Texas) Sam Houston or vice versa and you wouldn’t think that the two were from different schools. Not only are the two from different schools, but district opponents. That’s on the field and on the hardwood. Today the two squared off again.

No second thoughts

After a birthday commitment in August, Donovan Vestal was going to take a visit to see Nebraska for the home opener. There wasn’t anything that Vestal had to see a little more to remain a solid commit, but he thought that seeing a game was something that he had to do. After seeing Nebraska’s home opener Vestal can’t wait to get to Lincoln.

Birthday Wish Come True

Texas defensive tackle Donovan Vestal said that for his birthday he wanted to make a decision as to just where he'd be going to college. Well, today is his birthday, and he made good on that pledge. He touched base with us just briefly this morning as he confirmed his commit, but you can check out the Red Zone as we follow that story today.

Commit coming?

What Donovan Vestal would like to do as opposed to what he is probably going to have to do are two completely different things. This Saturday is Vestal’s birthday and he would like to commit to a school to celebrate with his family. Vestal might also want to take an official or two to make sure that he made the right decision. Good news for Husker fans is that he will be in Lincoln on 9/5…

Vestal and Wheeler enjoy Lincoln

The early word on Nebraska’s junior day is that it was a success. While there weren’t any commitments that we know about right now to speak of, its clear Nebraska made an impression. Just like with Donovan Vestal and Diamonte Wheeler from Arlington (Texas) Bowie with whom Nebraska is now sitting solely or tied at the top of their list.

Excited about the trip

The Junior Day on Friday is going to be a success for the Nebraska staff regardless of who comes in that weekend and who doesn’t. It’s a step in the right direction to giving the recruits another chance to get to Lincoln late in the summer. This pair of defensive lineman is headed up to Lincoln this week for the Junior Day on Friday. The DE of the duo is particularly excited about the trip.

Trying to make it

The defensive line is one of the top areas for Nebraska in the 2010 class. The Huskers need to secure a number of inside and outside commitments along the defensive line. A player whose name has become increasingly popular with Nebraska fans is Donovan Vestal from Arlington (Texas) Bowie. Vestal was supposed to be in Lincoln this week, will he still make it?
