SPRING DAY 8: Cougs have day to remember

PULLMAN -- Head coach Mike Leach’s midmorning decision to cancel WSU’s scrimmage went better than he expected it to on Saturday. Instead of running 110 plays, the Cougars showcased drills for high school coaches from around the state who were in Pullman Saturday for a football coaching clinic. They proved a fitting precursor to what undoubtedly was the most entertaining team session of the spring.

SPRING COUNTDOWN: Cougars WR Preview Part II

PULLMAN – It will be seemingly endless, the list of wide receiver names on the WSU roster in 2013. Unofficially there are 19 – count ‘em, 19 -- wide receivers expected to be on board by the time the games count for real. That means competition, and a whole lot of it, when the Cougs kick off spring drills on Thursday.

SPRING COUNTDOWN: Cougars WR Preview Part I

PULLMAN–Mike Leach believes in an eight-man system at wide receiver. The top four start but four more should be ready to step in every third play or so. According to Leach, it helps the system move at its fullest capacity, rotating fresh legs throughout the course of the game. Because of that, a bevy of targets end up getting some in-game run -- a favorable circumstance for the Cougs this spring.

WR gets family feel from... Marquess Wilson?

HEADING INTO HIS official visit, Seattle's Tatum Taylor was hoping to experience the family vibe and sense of brotherhood at WSU he's so often heard about. The O'Dea wide receiver prospect tells CF.C the Cougs answered that call in a big way and one person in particular brought it home for him on his visit. And it's someone you might find hard to believe -- Marquess Wilson.

Key to rise of WSU's Myers found in mindset

PULLMAN - In late July, players from WSU were given two weeks off to relax and spend time with family and friends. For one Cougar receiver, that time wasn’t used to travel or spend countless hours playing video games like a regular 19-year old. Instead, Isiah Myers was out on the gridiron, working to become the wideout with the steadiest hands in crimson and focusing on one thing in particular…

Seven appears to be WSU's unluckiest number

THE NO. 7 GENERALLY is viewed in positive terms dating back to the Old Testament. But when Washington State coach Mike Leach discusses the number, the subject quickly turns negative. He discussed that, the state of the Cougars' winless opponent at 1 p.m. Saturday, Colorado (TV: FX), why he wouldn't welcome a Pac-12 injury report mandate and much more during his Monday afternoon teleconference.
