Wednesday night was another spirited session in shells and shorts, but the hitting never stopped and there was strong play on both sides of the ball. As we are into the dawg days of Camp Sark, players are trying their best to impress the coaches and show them that they belong.

Thursday Workout Report

It was as nice a day as you could want in Seattle Thursday, as 81 Washington Huskies showed up for another competitive workout session. This one lasted anywhere from 90 minutes to two hours, depending on who you were and what position you played. Overall, the work rate was high and there was plenty of enthusiasm to go around.

Defense Improving without Significant Pieces

After three weeks of spring ball and 11 practices, the Husky defense is starting to exert itself in the weekly standoffs called scrimmages. Here’s a little progress report on the Husky defenders as I see them in practice. Even though they lost their two best players from last year in Donald Butler and Daniel Te'o-Nesheim, I think as a group they are making some great strides to fill those voids.

Stellar Class Offers Immediate Help for Depth

Nothing is going distract from this already monster signing class, unless of course there are a couple of more desertions coming down the stretch - and that is unlikely with this staff. Losing a wide receiver in Keanon Lowe is probably the one area where Washington won’t hurt simply because of the returning depth there.

Williams has solid performance against Serra

Some college coaches might think Taft LB/DE Brent Williams is a bit undersized, but it's doubtful he looked undersized to Serra quarterback Conner Preston on Friday night. Williams had two sacks and was in pursuit of Preston all night. His size wasn't an issue for Washington head coach Steve Sarkisian and he offered Williams a scholarship offer back in August.
