DESPITE BEING DOWN TO THE NO.3 LSU TIGERS AT HALFTIME BY A SLIM 28-14 MARGIN, the Vandals could not keep up in the second half as the Tigers rolled to a 63-14 victory. Idaho had its highlights, including an electrifying 94-yard interception return by safety GARY WALKER to start the second quarter, which led to a Blackman-to-LaGrone TD that cut LSU's lead to 14-7. But the Tigers were too much.

Vandals fall 21-13 at Bowling Green

IN HIS FIRST START OF THE 2012 SEASON FOR THE VANDALS, junior quarterback Dominique Blackman was effective at moving the Idaho offense as he went an impressive 30-of-37 for 352 yards, with one touchdown and an interception. But Idaho (0-2) had trouble punching it into the endzone at Bowling Green (1-1), settling for redzone field goals until Marquan Major connected with Blackman in the fourth.

Vandals have holes to fill after 2-10 season

A SEASON THAT STARTED WITH LOFTY EXPECTATIONS has mercifully come to an end. Saturday afternoon, on the road in Reno, the Vandals exemplified everything endured this season with in a 56-3 thrashing at the hands of the Wolf Pack. The focus now turns to recruiting to fill holes for 2012, building a line around redshirt freshman center MIKE MARBOE, and a shakeup in the coaching staff is likely.

UI-BGSU POST-GAME: Robinson & Walker

THURSDAY NIGHT IN THE SEASON OPENER FOR THE VANDALS, Idaho struggled defensively in the first half giving up 30 points to the visiting Falcons. The Vandal D made adjustments at the half and didn't yield a second half point to BGSU, but by then the damage was done and a stagnant Vandal offense couldn't keep pace, falling 32-15. Team Captain TRE'SHAWN ROBINSON and safety Gary Walker met the media.

SPRING 2011: The Vandal defensive backs

HOW DO YOU REPLACE A TEAM LEADER LIKE SHILOH KEO? Idaho has spent most of spring working out the kinks in a defensive backfield that won't feature the former Team Captain and All-WAC safety for the first time in four years. But with just one week left in camp, position battles at strong safety and the rest of the Vandal defensive backfield are getting settled as an experienced unit takes form.

2010 PREVIEW: An emerging backfield

THROUGHOUT FALL CAMP, THE IDAHO DEFENSIVE BACKFIELD HAS BEEN RESILIENT. For the 2010 season the Vandals return a host of talent and experience across the board among the safeties and corners, buoyed by senior SHILOH KEO, a 2009 First Team All-WAC selection named to this year's Thorpe Award watch list. "Competition breeds excellence," DC Mark Criner told GVN, leading to fierce position battles.
