Navy Practice Update: Week 3

Navy announced this past week that the final two intra-squad scrimmages that are held on Fridays will be closed to the media. With the first game against a local team Delaware, head coach Ken Niumatalolo is playing his cards uncharacteristically close to the vest. During the triple option era the scrimmages have been open in the past.

Navy Football Blue & Gold Recap

At least no one was hurt in Navy's annual Blue-Gold spring football game. In an ugly game played in miserable conditions the Blue squad beat the Gold 7-6. For the first time in school history the game was broadcast live by the CBS Sports Network. Navy fans probably wish the cameras weren't there to record the event as both offensive teams struggled.

Navy Spring Football Review

Head coach Ken Niumatalolo stood on the practice field this past Wednesday evening and declared Navy's spring camp a success. It was the last of 14 workouts for the Midshipmen, who opened spring camp on March 28 and concluded it with Friday's annual Blue-Gold game.
"I'm encouraged by where we're at. We answered a lot of questions," Niumatalolo said.

Navy Spring Practice Recap - The Defense

Navy's defense came of age last year as it ranked 16th in nation in scoring defense. The Mids finished fourth in the nation in red zone scoring defense and 28th overall in total defense. This was a group that Navy fans watched mature into a terrific defense. In 2007 they were an overmatched group of underclassmen that surrendered a school record 473 points.
