Commodore defense shows promise

A few days ago it was mentioned how the Vandy offense, and more specifically the rushing attack, was very much on top in scrimmage and situational work this spring. Seeing as how James Franklin puts such high stock in his running backs, and in his various versions of the wildcat attack, it was no shock that the offensive guys were putting on a show.

Vanderbilt Position Preview: DEFENSIVE ENDS

Deciding who the starters are for the defensive end position won't be near as easy for new Commodore defensive line coach Sean Spencer as it will be for the defensive tackle position. While Spencer gets two proven starters back at defensive tackle, things are not as stable at defensive end. VandyMania.com will now preview the Vanderbilt defensive end position.

Woestmann Chooses Vandy

The offer total had grown to 15 and was not slowing down. Narrowing the list all the way down to the home-state Bulldogs and the Commodores, Woestmann had to eliminate the likes of Boston College, Stanford, South Carolina and Clemson. Wrestling with the decision so much that he had to take an impromptu trip to Nashville, it took a mere 5+ hours on campus to know what he had known all along.

New Offers May Mean New Top 5

Just when it seemed that things were somewhat in order, the race essentially down to two, things found a way to get interesting. Kyle Woestmann, standout lineman from Marietta-Walton (GA), was nearing a decision. Fairly certain that teams willing to offer had in fact done so, the play-maker was preparing to put recruiting behind him and set his sights on his senior year...until now.

Walton HS (GA) standout Kyle Woestmann has been getting a lot of attention this spring. Most of the big programs want him to play on the Offensive Line, but he has his sights set on the other side of the ball. Reinforcing the decision to focus on defense is the most recent offer, one straight from the Tigers of Clemson. See what one of the top players in the SE has to say...

Things haven't escalated into a full-blown frenzy just yet for upcoming senior DL/OL Kyle Woestmann, but they sure are getting interesting. Walton HS (Marietta, GA) has had its fair share on both sides of the ball, so it really is no secret why they have had such consistency in the win-loss column. 2010 prospect Kyle Woestmann has already staked his claim as the next great one, and Scout was able to see him up close and personal.
