OSU SPRING DAY 3: Battle in the trenches

CORVALLIS – Day Three of spring ball marked the first day of shoulder pads for Oregon State, and it was a significant change of pace. The cracks were louder and the competition got heated. Sean Harlow made his presence known and Tyler Hasty made the sidelines roar. Couple that with Storm Woods and Terron Ward turning on the jets, and it added up to one heck of a day inside the Truax Center.

DAY 17: Beavs look to be rounding into form

CORVALLIS--A lot of big hits for the Beavs, some smooth offense and decent accuracy from the quarterbacks despite strong winds. It was also the first time Mike Riley intentionally made mention of the upcoming home opener against Nicholls State, set for September 1. Joe Seumalo lends us his insight into the bright future of the Oregon State defensive line squad and more in this Day 17 report.

FALL CAMP: DAY 18 REPORT

CORVALLIS – It was an off day for the Beaver QBs, with the defense making a bid to rename the town to Pick City. If running back Malcolm Agnew saw the most carries with the 1’s, and he once again did, Jordan Jenkins, who missed much of the early part of camp and whom the OSU coaches want to get up to speed, definitely got the second-most. Ben Motter gets in with the 1s, Hardin's surgery and more..

LINEBACKER: Post spring evaluation

THE MIDDLE LINEBACKER position for the Beavers remained unsettled coming out of spring but Maria Bruggere was there for each of OSU’s 15 spring football practices, and we’re going to put her on the spot. On the outside, Cameron Collins looks primed for a big year and don’t forget about Michael Doctor. What about the depth, and could OSU still add to the linebacker corps before the season?

SPRING: Will LBs be better than forecast?

CORVALLIS–Two practices into spring drills, it’s time to take a closer look at the linebackers. The group caught more than their fair share of blame for OSU's 5-7 mark in 2010, but the Beavs will miss the combination of Keith Pankey and Dwight Roberson. Can OSU replace that experience, play and leadership? And can the LBs actually be better than in ’10, despite replacing two of three starters?

Beavs' LB depth cushions possible Pankey loss

SENIOR-TO-BE WLB KEITH PANKEY tore his Achilles tendon this week, as anyone who has read yesterday's Hot News is now aware. Typically this type of injury is season-ending, as was the case with the Beavs' Gabe Miller earlier in his career. The question begs, how does the injury affect the outlook for the Beaver linebacker corps this season? And could Pankey still make it back in time?

WE'RE LESS THAN 48 hours away from Signing Day. But Oregon State has yet to put the expected finishing touches on their 2010 class. Meanwhile, one who doesn't look to be coming their way is an Oklahoma defensive back.
