Wade, Travis wait while Tuel, Wilson gear up

GIL BRANDT, THE NFL.com analyst and former Cowboys general manager, says Jeff Tuel was one of the top undrafted NFL prospects this weekend and believes the Cougar quarterback has the ability “to be an eventual starter in the right situation.” Whether Buffalo, where Tuel is headed on a free-agent contract, is that place remains to be seen but the road certainly won’t be easy.

NFL Draft: Forecasting the Cougars

IF NFLDRAFTSCOUT.COM and Scout.com are right, Washington State’s Jeff Tuel will be taken Saturday in the seventh round of the NFL draft. Offensive lineman Wade Jacobson, meanwhile, doesn’t appear on the depth charts of many draft forecasters, but he tells Cougfan.com he’s hearing encouraging words from several NFL teams. He also has a legend in his corner.

Charting Connor Halliday's path to success

BILL CONNELLY has never seen Washington State’s Connor Halliday play in person. And most of his observations about the rising junior quarterback come not from film review but through the crunching of numbers. Yet his conclusions after digesting 185 of Halliday’s passes in five games last season are unequivocal.

Cougs post some head-turning Pro Day numbers

PULLMAN – It’s a small group of graduating seniors for Washington State in 2013 and the question looms: Are there NFL-caliber prospects among them? If WSU’s NFL Pro Day proved anything Thursday, it’s that some Cougs will, at the least, be wild cards come draft day next month. Indeed, from this chair, the event was a raging success.

'Sculpted' Jacobson, Cougs ready for Pro Day

PULLMAN -- WSU’s Pro Day is Thursday, and offensive lineman Wade Jacobson is relishing the chance to show NFL scouts all the hard work he’s put in has paid off. There’s been a dietary change too -- the days of eating two Subway foot-long sandwiches for lunch are long gone for Jacobson. After a rigorous offseason, which included the newfangled diet, Jacobson says he’s ready to turn heads.

PULLMAN – Jeff Tuel is calling an audible and splitting the seam. After impressive performances at a pair of all-star games and stellar individual workouts that further raised his profile among NFL scouts, ol’ No. 10 for the Cougs has decided to change up the standard campus Pro Day routine. To maintain his momentum, he’s going to divide his work between two campuses over two days.

In the span of one week, David Gilbertson and Jeff Tuel bowed out, respectively electing to forego and stop fighting for fifth seasons. And Cody Clements, per multiple sources, is transferring. That suddenly puts Austin Apodaca front and center against Connor Halliday for the right to quarterback the Cougs in 2013.
