It's about heart

When the final list came out, the 5A-first-team All-State roster in Texas, the most productive state in the country in terms of putting out Division 1 football players, defensive tackle Thaddeus Randle was at the top. But when you ask the Husker commit how he got there, he won't enthrall you with descriptions about his size, strength or technique. He says it's all about heart.

Commitment Tracker: DT Thaddeus Randle

In the drama that is recruiting, it is suspense that sells. Therefore, when a prospect commits (especially when he does it early), a certain amount of luster is lost. The truth is, most fans care deeply about how or what their commits are doing. This is precisely why Scout.com places an emphasis on those whose future is set. Scout.com catches up with Nebraska commit, Thaddeus Randle.

Randle rates Nebraska a “12”

Committing to a school without seeing it first is a bit of a risk. There is always a chance that something isn’t right and the recruit decides to go somewhere else. For Thaddeus Randle, things couldn’t have been better at Nebraska. The Nebraska commitment was blown away by what he saw on his trip and his commitment remains solid.

Randle set to see Nebraska

There is usually some uneasiness by fans when it comes to getting a commitment from a recruit that hasn’t visited or seen the campus yet. Committing sight unseen takes a leap of faith. Or better yet, buying into the ideal that the team and the coach presents to you. That is exactly what happened with Thaddeus Randle, but he is going to get to see Nebraska soon enough.

Coach Speak: Thaddeus Randle

In 1997, Shawn Wynn was a defensive tackle for Tyler (Texas) John Tyler that was terrorizing opposing offenses. The Huskers were coming off their third national title in four years and were knocking at his door. Wynn decided to wait and missed on his opportunity to be a Husker. Coming full-circle, Wynn sees Thaddeus Randle realize the college dream and is set to be a Husker.

Huskers pick up Texas DT

With the evaluation period in full-swing, the Nebraska coaching staff have been busy. One of the players that Nebraska identified early in the process was overwhelmed by the Nebraska offer and attention that he was receiving. This player was close on Sunday to calling Head Coach Bo Pelini to say that he was committing, but today at athletics period he made that call to the Nebraska staff.
