Pensacola Sets Record for Runs

The struggling offense at Pensacola came alive Sunday in an 11-4 win over Montgomery. The Wahoo rotation has been effective thus far this season and Cincinnati is hoping their 11-4 win is a sign that the bats are ready to help them make a second half run in the Southern League

Top Reds Prospects: No. 23

Last season rule 5 pickup Travis “Moose” Mattair surprised at Bakersfield where he was their top run producer. Previously he had lackluster results in the Phillies organization which were interrupted by a hiatus when he dabbled with basketball. Continued improvement by the 24 year old against higher level competition will force his name in consideration for MLB duty as a corner infielder.

Mattair Now Leads Blaze

Travis Mattair has not taken the path expected when the Phillies drafted him in the second round in 2007. After a few lackluster seasons in the minors he skipped 2010 to pursue college basketball. Eventually he returned and the Reds selected him in the minor league portion of this year's Rule 5 draft. After promotion of some teammates to AA he is now the main run producer in the Blaze lineup.
