Emeralds win circus affair

Eugene, OR: It would seem as if the circus was in town at PK Park instead of a baseball game. The game was filled with miscues and inconsistent pitching. There were four errors in the game and a total of 11 free passes. There were also two balks and a handful of wild pitches. If there was a given oddity in the game of baseball it probably took place Saturday night in the Emeralds 7-6 victory.

While these 46 prospects did not make our list, it does not diminish their talent level or ability. There will be plenty on this list that help the big league club in some capacity.

Just because a player wasn’t ranked doesn’t mean they won’t make the list in the future or be a part of the San Diego Padres. In fact, it is a good bet there will be quite a few that go on to have major league careers. This list includes players that we have seen only once as well – criteria we use to select the top-60.
Summary: After winning just 18 games in 2007, the Dominican Summer League Padres were a year older and a year wiser. They remained the youngest team in the division by a wide margin but also added several talented hitting prospects signed via international free agency on July 2. Several prospects had solid debut seasons.
