Debose Named to Biletnikoff Watch List

The group of Florida wide receivers is searching for a leader. After the position didn’t find answers during the 2011 season, the Gators continue to search for one as the 2012 season is less than two months away. The likely candidate to break out is junior wide receiver Andre Debose, who was named to the Biletnikoff Award Preseason Watch List that was announced on Tuesday.

Special Teams Help Debose Earn MVP

Andre Debose has spent all season giving the Gators a deep threat. In Monday's Gator Bowl, he found a different, but familiar, way to make an impact. Debose secured the Gator Bowl MVP with a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown that came just after an Ohio State touchdown to tie the game. The kickoff return also forced changes to be made to the Florida record books.

Debose Talks About Offense Moving Forward

Florida sophomore receiver Andre Debose had a strong year in 2011 in an offense that really struggled. Debose went in front of the Florida media this week to talk about the offense and more. These times aren't for the weak and Debose commented on those guys that decided to take their talents elsewhere during the year. He also talked of the importance of keeping the same style of offense.

Debose Taking Advantage of Opportunities

He didn’t start and hasn’t for most of the season. But, when the ball is thrown his way, he seems to take advantage of it more often than not. Saturday, Andre Debose was stellar in his play and led all Gators with 151 yards on three catches and two long touchdowns. It was the kind of game that should really get him recognized nationally. Now if he could only get more attention on his own team?

Video: Debose Talks About the Offense

Florida sophomore receiver Andre Debose spoke with the media Tuesday and touched on a variety of subjects. Debose has been the gators biggest play maker from the receiver position this fall and seems content to do what he can as the offense tries to mature around a new system that may require different personnel. He certainly expects more of himself and the offense in the future.

Debose Knows Consistency is the Challenge

The story for Andre Debose has been the same for most his career. When he’s healthy, two separate coaching staffs have talked about needing to improve his practice habits. That changed last week. After bouncing back from a sprained ankle, Debose put together a solid week of practice that earned consistent playing time against Alabama. His challenge now is to do it every week.

Debose Takes Advantage of Opportunity

It has been a long time coming and it appears the Gators finally may have found a ‘go to’ receiver. Sophomore speedster Andre Debose put on a one play show to start the game Saturday against Alabama and unfortunately that wasn’t enough. But, in the process, Debose earned some much needed respect from fans, teammates, and maybe most importantly, the coaching staff.

Instead, that momentum didn’t last much more than a drive. Debose became the first player in Florida history to return two kickoffs for touchdowns in a season.

Debose Injury was a 'Blessing in Disguise'

Andre Debose felt the pressure before he even stepped on campus last summer. He was supposed to be the playmaker that took over for the production lost when Percy Harvin went to the NFL. Instead, Debose spent a frustrating freshman year on the sidelines. It was the last thing he wanted before the season started, but it may have been the best thing that could have happened to Debose.
