Sark’s first class continues to impress

With spring practices just completed, it’s becoming more and more apparent that the first signing class of the Steve Sarkisian era at Washington is proving to be much better than its last place ranking in the conference. Of course I have never put much stock in ranking classes simply because there are too many variables to factor in.

Huskies Searching For Road Success

It's not the way Steve Sarkisian would have drawn it up. He said Monday that having a bye week after the fifth game of the season would have been preferable to the grind these last eight weeks have put on the Washington Huskies. After what was reportedly a spirited workout Sunday, Sarkisian insists his team is recharged after their week off and ready to tackle the rest of their Pac-10 schedule.

Justin Glenn doesn't live far from the Washington campus, but his head may have been a million miles away from the safety position he now inhabits. For Glenn, it was a shocking move back to a place that once was familiar ground, but now he realizes it's just another move made by the Washington coaches to get the most out of the players they have.

Dawg Blog - Idaho

We're back at it, and the Washington Huskies' next opponent is the Idaho Vandals. The Huskies haven't lost to the Vandals in over a century, and have never lost to them at Husky Stadium - but the Huskies have never faced UI riding a 15-game losing streak either, so this week holds intrigue on a number of fronts. The two mix it up at Husky Stadium Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

Sarkisian Yearns for Respect

In hearing coach Steve Sarkisian's opening comments, he's very happy that it's finally game week, especially given the fact that he's naturally an impatient person. "It's football season," he said. "That's why we're here and it's what we do. That's the mentality for us. It's been a long time coming, a lot of blood, sweat and tears for everybody.

It's game week! Finally, after weeks of fall camp and all that goes with it, the LSU Tigers are on the front burner. What surprises will first year Head Coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff have for their visitors? One thing is for sure, there's plenty to talk about with the list of starters released Monday.

Dawgman Insider Blog: August 2009, PART TWO

With the days ticking ever closer to Washington's September 5th clash with LSU, the more Steve Sarkisian is thinking about the game. More specifically, how the mechanics of the game are going to go. With that in mind, as well as the thought that he wants his team as fresh as possible going into their battle with the Bayou Bengals, it appears that full pads are done for fall camp.

Newcomers make their presence felt

When Steve Sarkisian hit the recruiting trail last January, he had only 5 weeks to salvage a recruiting class that had only two players committed before he arrived and coming off an 0-12 season, the question was -- 'What kind of a class can he hope to sign?' While the class finished ranked 66th in the country, there are several newcomers who could end being big contributors this fall...

First Scrimmage Used For Depth Analysis

It was almost one and done for the first fall scrimmage of the Steve Sarkisian era. The number one offense faced off against the number one defense for two series, and then basically shut it down with the exception of some spot playing. I think the coaches know who their first line players are and were more interested in using the scrimmage for finding out who else could help.

Some Diamonds in the Rough

Years ago, the NCAA allowed us some days of practices just for the new kids. This would enable us to teach them the culture of the system, as well as specific drills of their position. This way we could get them up to speed before the varsity arrived. Now the rookies are thrown right into the fray from day one, making it difficult to check them out, let alone compare them to the older kids.
