Let the footballs fly

Coach Anae is opening up the competition between six quarterbacks currently in the program. While Taysom Hill played with the first-team offense on day one of spring camp, mostly due to him having played in six games last season, the starting quarterback position has been left wide open. The competition will help the players’ overall development.

Hill's recovery going better than expected

Speedy freshman quarterback Taysom Hill returned back from Pocatello, Idaho on Tuesday after visiting with his family. It’s been two weeks since he had surgery on a knee injured against Utah State, but what was discovered during the surgery was nothing short of a miracle.

Taysom Hill out for remainder of the season

Irony can often be cruel. Take last Friday’s game against Utah State, when quarterback Taysom Hill hurt his knee on the third-to-last play of the game when he ironically should have actually been taking a knee. Instead, Hill ran a quarterback draw, and a player’s helmet hit him directly in the knee.

A common thread between BYU and BSU

In the early years under head coach LaVell Edwards’ tenure, BYU rose from the ranks of college football obscurity and onto the big stage with an innovative and revolutionary offensive passing system. Since that time, BYU has been able to bring in great talent into the program as schemes catch up and progress. Boise State has followed a similar path.

The road from Stanford to BYU was at first difficult, but Hill has come to realize that his decision to transfer was the right one in the end.
