Herd Goes Shells, Readies For Saturday

Marshall head coach Mark Snyder has been very smart for this August, about injuries, about practice length and about the amount of contact in an effort to avoid the type of August the Herd endured last year, losing Albert McClellan and any other number of players to short and long-term injuries. Snyder and his staff are on the same page this year about getting the best players to game day.

Marshall turned up the hitting with the first true "two-a-day" practice day of the August 2008 camp. Mark Snyder was happy with the "thud" practice that is hitting without taking offensive players down to the ground, and there was some very good plays on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball, which is exactly how Snyder would have it during the third day in full pads.

Notes, Stats From August 9 Marshall Workout

Marshall put the first day of pads under its belts with some good hitting and no major injuries. While the coaches are trying to strike a balance between needed hitting and not hitting to injury, the highlight of Saturday's practice was a crack-back block by receiver Bryant Milligan that sprung Darius Passmore for a touchdown during team. Terrell Edwards continued to run well, like he did spring.
