      <description>The Oakland A's had the best team ERA in the American League and the sixth-best bullpen ERA in the AL in 2010. Despite that success the team has continued to add talent to their pitching staff this off-season. That continued on Tuesday when the A's inked reliever Grant Balfour. To make room for Balfour, they had to designate prospect Clayton Mortensen for assignment.</description>
