Coach Speak: David Whitmore

Coach Ronnie Thompson has been on the Port Arthur (Texas) Memorial sidelines for a long time. David Whitmore, to him, has “it”. Whatever “it” is, he can’t explain. It’s kind of like what Eric Metcalf had when he was playing for Coach Thompson years ago. Coach Thompson had a lot to say about David, how things are these days for teenagers and how well Nebraska recruited David.

Visit goes well for Whitmore

There aren't a lot of the carryover commitments from under Bill Callahan to under Bo Pelini. While there aren't many, that doesn't mean that there aren't some great players getting carried over. A player that could get an immediate look in Lincoln to play early might be David Whitmore from Port Arthur (Texas) Memorial.

Whitmore set to see Lincoln

The name back in April didn't mean a lot because Nebraska fans first heard about David Whitmore in a commitment story. There wasn't a lot of press for Whitmore in the weeks leading up to a commit. Now, since the change in the Nebraska coaching staff, Whitmore has been on the tips of more tongues to get a full understanding of his commitment status.

Shores up commitment

One of the most surprising commitments to Nebraska this year might be David Whitmore. It’s not because David isn’t a quality recruit. More or less, it’s because he wasn’t anywhere on the recruiting services map when he committed. This Port Arthur (Texas) Memorial standout was on the tips of everyone’s tongues that went to see him play in the state 7 on 7 tournament.

Whitmore talks about commitment

The Nebraska recruiting class has been all about offense except for one player who before his commitment wasn't very well known. The commitment might have put him on the recruiting map, but he had been receiving his fair share of recruiting attention up to that point. Whitmore took the chance to update his status as a future Husker.

"I'm a Husker"

Call it that gut feeling or whatever, but sometimes it just feels right. That’s how it was this morning for Memorial High School ( Port Arthur , TX ) defensive back David Whitmore. Yesterday he would have called himself a Nebraska fan. Now, he calls himself a Husker.
